James Matthew Landreth passed away in Spokane WA on October 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love for family, deep and lifelong friendships, and a personality as big as life itself.
“Matt” worked as a land surveyor and foreman for Norm’s Utility Contractor and Knife River Corp. He was an avid outdoorsman for most of his life, loving to hunt and fish from an early age. It became his personal goal to speed up the extinction of walleye in Lake Roosevelt. Matt loved to cook and was always on the lookout for new walleye recipes. He was a true Zags fan well before they became a top-ranked team, and he looked forward to every game. Matt’s heart never left Eastern Oregon, always cherishing his memories of growing up in such a beautiful area. As a member of St. Anthony Parish and a parent at Trinity Catholic School, Matt volunteered for many fundraisers, building many special friendships. Matt highly valued his loving family and many friends. He particularly enjoyed family reunions and getting together with friends – always ready for a party and wanting to share his new (and old) jokes.
Matt leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Patti, their children Riley (Monica), Kelsey (Joel), grandchildren Matthew, Violet, and Vance, sister Kathie Gallardo, many nieces, nephews and cousins, and Ross Bond (best friend ever). He was preceded in death by parents James and Florestine, siblings Garry, Bonnie, and Kirby, and his ever-faithful Gracie (best dog ever).
Matt will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. We find comfort in knowing that he rests in everlasting peace, in the presence of the Lord.
Funeral services and reception will be held Saturday, November 9 at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N Government Way, followed by a celebration of life get-together with toasting and sharing of new (and old) jokes.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Catholic School, 2315 N Cedar St, Spokane WA 99205.
