LaReine V. Emery

October 03, 1923 - January 24, 2017

LaReine V. Emery Obituary (Age 93) We lost LaReine on January 24, 2017 at Deaconess Hospital. She joined her beloved Leonard. LaReine was born on October 3, 1923 to George and Myrtle Perkins in Ironton, MN, the first of seven siblings. After graduating from high school in 1942, she had the choice of going to junior college or going to California and marrying the love of her life, Leonard, who was serving with the Minnesota National Guard. Of course it was off to California where they were married on August 8, 1942 a marriage that lasted 26 years. Their marriage had many stops along the way, finally ending up in Spokane in 1955. During that time, they adopted their son, Richard. LaReine lost her loving husband in December of 1968, never to marry again. In her life she worked in the banking industry and as an accountant for the State of Washington. Until the very end, she could add up a grocery slip in her head and be spot on. Many a wary cashier found out the hard way that she was not your typical older lady. After retiring, LaReine traveled the world. Taking many cruises and trips to Europe, Hawaii and cruises to Mexico, the Caribbean and Alaska. She was the happiest when she was with her friends playing dominos and pinnacle. She was a deadly pinnacle player. She also enjoyed playing the machines at Northern Quest Casino. It was almost as if they knew better than not pay off. My mom lived a very full life; she enjoyed people. The other thing she enjoyed was volunteering in many different ways and helping people. She will be dearly missed. There will be a private family graveside service. In a few weeks, a memorial service for her friends and family will be announced. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of LaReine, please visit our Tree Store. Read more Events JAN 24
