Larry R. Pasby

March 16, 1939 - August 20, 2010

Larry R. Pasby Obituary (Age 71) Passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2010 with his family and friends by his side after a brief battle with cancer. Larry is survived by his wife Kathy (Sweeney) of 48 wonderful years, daughters Molly Toohey and Meribeth Phipps; son Dan Pasby and wife Lisa (McCartney); grandchildren, Kurtis, Halee, Joseph, Kaelah, and Shawnee; brother Bob Pasby of Sonora CA; sister-in-law Annie Coyne of Seattle, WA, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Larry was preceded in death by his son Patrick and his parents Lee and Beth Pasby. Larry was born and raised in Spokane, attended St. Aloysius grade school and Gonzaga Prep and served three years in the US Navy. Upon his return from service, his brother provided a lead that paved the way to a very successful 41 year career in banking, retiring from both Bank of America and Washington Trust Bank. Larry had the fortunate opportunity to return with his family back to his stomping grounds, a city he loved passionately after many business transfers. Of the long list of strong friendships Dad shared, many were founded and forged at Twin Lakes in Inchelium, WA, a special place he recognized as our "slice of heaven on earth" that he and his family share. Larry, a man with an electric personality was rarely idle, a true putterer in his spare time and made significant contributions to Washington State Special Olympics, The Arc of Spokane and was a volunteer at Holy Family Hospital. Many have said, after Larry was born - they broke the mold. While 71 years may appear many to some, his years were loaded with a terrific sense of humor and incredibly quick wit. Larry was largely recognized for his fairness to all and had a tremendous love for family and friends. His brief battle before passing came all too abruptly. We miss him sorely. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arc of Spokane, Washington State Special Olympics, or Hospice of Spokane. A vigil will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on August 26, 2010 at 7:00pm, with a memorial service to be held on August 27, 2010 at 11:00am at the same location.
