LaVona May Collins Obituary (Age 87) LaVona was born on June 19, 1927 in Spokane to Harvey and Vernie Dixon. She was the fourth of seven children. LaVona passed away on April 24, 2015. LaVona grew up in Spokane and graduated from John R. Rogers High School in 1944. Following high school she met Harold J. Collins and they were married on June 26, 1947. LaVona was a military wife who raised six children and was extremely active in her church, the United Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Harvey "Jim" Collins, two brothers Kenneth and Laird Dixon and her sister Irien Mahon. She is survived by five children: Sheila Noble of CO, Christian Peterson-Strange of Newport, John Collins of CO, Bruce Collins of CO and Karin Geer of MO, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grand-children and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Daniel Dixon of AR and David Dixon of Wilbur, WA as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home from 10:00AM to 5:
