Lawrence Paul Bostrom Jr. passed away October 31, 2013 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Spokane Washington. Lawrence was born October 19, 1931 in Springdale Washington to Lawrence P. and Margaret M. Bostrom. Larry was one of ten children. He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and served in the United States Army as a military police officer. Lawarence worked for the United States Postal Service and served forty-one years, starting on a mail trains picking up rural mail pouches from a moving train, in all three Spokane area postal terminals, and retired as an expeditor. He was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and was a master of one liners and puns.
Larry parents Lawrence P. Bostrom Sr. and Margaret M. Bostrom, his brothers Bert Cooley, Wayne Cooley, and his sister June Cooley preceded him in passing. Larry is survived by his wife Carol Bostrom of Spokane; daughter Kathy Withey of Spokane; son Ken Withey of Hauser, Idaho; five grandchildren Christina Withey of Seattle, Jason Withey of Spokane, Michael Withey of Spokane, Steven Withey of Yakima, Thomas Withey of Spokane; eight great-grandchildren, as well as his brothers Dick Bostrom of Spokane, Bob Bostrom of Kalispell, Montana, and his sisters Mary Long of Spokane, Arlene Horn of Great Falls, Montana, Grace Bostrom of Spokane and Pat Carter of Wapato, Washington.
Memorial service will be held on November 8, 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA 99224. A graveside service will be held on November 8, 3:00 PM at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Rd, Medical Lake, WA. 99022. Long time, close family friend, Pastor Jeff McCullough will preside over the memorial.
