Leland "Lee" Ruggles Obituary (Age 52) Leland ?Lee? Ruggles, age 52, cast his last fishing line on January 4, 2016. He was born to Sandra ?Skip? (Phillipson) Ruggles and the late James ?Bob? Ruggles on May 15, 1963 at Fairchild Air Force Base outside of Spokane, WA. He graduated from St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic School in 1978, North Central High School in 1982, and went on to earn a Machinist Degree at Spokane Community College. Lee was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a fierce patriot. He lost his battle with lung cancer and is survived by his adoring wife Lisa (Materne) Ruggles and their children India and Carson. He is also survived by his mother Skip, sister Debi, nephews Johnathan and Taylor, Lisa?s family, and too many knucklehead buddies to mention here. Lee was a talented race car driver, outdoorsman, and could build anything out of metal, but his greatest accomplishment was marrying his best friend Lisa at his grandparent?s cabin at Newman Lake in 1995. Lee was most proud of his children who have grown into the kind of young adults that every parent hopes their child will become. He left this world knowing that Rock & Roll was the best music, Top Gun was the best movie, and deep frying in peanut oil was the best way to prepare a Thanksgiving turkey. His regrets were few but include setting off fireworks too close to the house as a kid, eating too much of his spicy chili, and a rather unfortunate permed mullet he sported in the mid-nineties. Lee's family will miss his love, his excellent cooking, and his quick-witted (albeit wildly inappropriate) humor. Services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home at 11am on Friday, January 15th. Come as you are. Lee only owned one suit, which went ?missing? after Sr.?s funeral in 2003, so don't feel pressured to wear one either. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jensen Memorial Youth Ranch at PO Box 220, Medical Lake, WA 99022.
