Lenore L. Haight Obituary (Age 100) A resident of Spokane Valley since 1963, Lenore passed away one week after her 100th birthday, at Pine Ridge Care Center, September 6, 2011. Lenore was born in Caldwell, Idaho on August 30, 1911 to George Franklin and Lillie Ameretta McReynolds. She graduated from Nampa High School in 1929 and obtained her teachers certificate from Albion State Normal School, Albion, Idaho in 1931. Over the years she continued her education at the University of Idaho, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Education, and finishing her fifth year at Eastern Washington State College. She also completed studies in Library Administration from Whitworth College and the University of Oregon. From 1932 to 1948, she taught in Southern Idaho at Hagerman, Dietrich and Shoshone. In 1948, Lenore, her husband and children moved to Northern Idaho and taught at Sandpoint High School until 1963. They moved to Spokane Valley in 1963 and she became the librarian at Shadle Park High School. Upon retiring from Shadle Park in 1976, she ended a 33 year career in education. While attending Albion Normal school, she met Leavitt Worthington (Nick) Haight. They married June 5, 1933. After 66 years together, Nick passed away in 1999. They enjoyed raising cattle and horses on a ranch East of Sandpoint and building a family cabin on Lake Pend Oreille near Granite Creek, where they spent many enjoyable days. For several years after retirement Nick and Lenore enjoyed "RVing" around the country, visiting new places and friends. Lenore was an avid reader and loved to dance. She will always be remembered for her healthy, active lifestyle, her home-baked bread, and supply of M&M's and Gummi Bears for the great-grandchildren. For over 48 years Lenore was active in Chapter AI, P.E.O. Her main focus in her later years was on her extended family. Lenore was preceded in death by her two sisters, Thelma Dickinson and Avonne Mabe, and her daughter, Vicki. She is survived by her son, Larry and daughter-in-law Barbara Haight, and daughter, Linda Martin Haight, both of Spokane Valley; six grandchildren: Jackie Alsperger, and Jill Boles, of Spokane Valley; Nick Haight of Sacramento, CA; David Martin, Zionsville, IN, James Martin, Phoenix, AZ, Greg Martin, Missoula, MT; Niece, Paula DeMers, Sandpoint, ID, nephews, George Dickinson, San Antonio, TX, and Leroy Mabe, Boise, ID; fourteen great-grandchildren: Sean and Erika Boles, Noah, Jonah, Rebekah, Joshua, Asa and Cassia Haight, Ian and Margo Martin, Nicole and Natalia Martin, Graham and Colin Martin. A private memorial service for the family will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are welcome to KSPS - Friends of Seven, 3911 S. Regal, Spokane, WA 99223.
