Leo De Sales Gonder Obituary
(Age 82)
January 16th our father passed away the way he wanted with his family filling his room with laughter and love. Born May 20, 1928 in Oakland, Maryland to Francis and Agatha Gonder one of twelve children. Raised in Salmon, Idaho, moved and graduated from Lindbergh High School (1946), Valleyford WA. He served in the U. S. Army and Navy from 1946 to 1953, after being honorably discharged from the service moved to Spokane to raise a family. Leo worked for over 42 years at Kaiser Aluminum. Leo married Delphine George on Nov. 17, 1951 while he was stationed in Honolulu, HI. He lost the love of his life his wife Delphine on July 18th, 1976 and the twinkle of his eyes his daughter Jeannie (Cross) on July 4th, 2008 both from cancer. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Georgie & Tim Gerl, Jamie Gonder, Leo & Teresa Gonder Jr., Sue Gonder, Tom & Sabrina Gonder, and Scott Cross. His grandchildren: Trina Freeman, Robert Gerl, Beth Gonder, Tiffany Moler, Tony Gerl, Nathan Gonder, Nicholas Gerl, Garet Gonder, Alyshia Gonder, Bront? Gonder, Quinn Gonder, and Malia Cross. Leo loved to bargain hunt and was known for his huge garage sales that occurred once or twice a year. He always enjoyed a good meal out at one of his many favorite restaurants, singing, laughing, big TVs, and was rarely seen without his Raiders hat. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday Jan. 21 at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 9:30 AM.
