V. LeRoy Huotari

LeRoy Huotari is resting in the presence of his Lord and Savior. He passed away on May 11, 2025 at his retirement home in Spokane Valley at age 92.

He was born in Sebeka, Minnesota to Finnish parents Thomas and Alice Huotari on May 7, 1933. He grew up in Bear River, Minnesota. He worked with his father on a dairy farm and logging with his father and uncles. From there he went to truck driving at the Iron Mines in Northern Minnesota. In 1953 – Korean War – He enlisted in the U.S. Airforce, except for a short stint in Guam in 1956, he served most of his time at the Fairchild Air Force base in Spokane, Washington. This is where he met and married Lucille Nickerson on July 3. 1958 at Beautiful Savor Church, where he regularly worshiped, served, and grew in faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

LeRoy was the father of Dave (Julie) of Valleyford, WA; Martin (Tina) of Spokane Valley, WA; Dan (Diana) of London, KY. Grandfather of five grandchildren; Jordan, Renee, Leah (Chris) of Seattle, WA; Kortney (Charles) of Old Town, ID; Korey (Diane) of Spokane Valley, WA ; and Joseph (Bre) of Spokane, WA; great grandfather of Arlo and Cyrus of Portland, OR; Hazel and Lyle of Seattle, WA; Sophia, Sarayah, Declan and Stetson of Old Town, ID; Leam of Spokane Valley, WA and Perseus of Spokane, WA.

He was the oldest of seven; Walter Huotari of Deer River MN; Carolynn Goulden of Gilbert, MN; Duane Huotari of Buckley, WA; Dennis Huotari of Deer River, MN; Diane Sweeney of Grand Rapids, MN; Doug Huotari of Deer River, MN.

The Service will be held, Saturday, May 17th at 2:00 PM at Beautiful Savor Lutheran Church, 4320 S. Conklin Ave. Spokane, WA 99203. Memorial may be made out to Beautiful Savor Lutheran Church or Mission Avenue Community Outreach. 1906 E. Mission Ave. Spokane, WA 99202.
