Lewis Clyde Phelps Obituary (Age 87) Lewis passed away at Holy Family Hospital, with family by his side, on January 16, 2018. Lewis was born May 16, 1930 in Spokane, WA to Elosia and Clyde Phelps. He attended Lewis and Clark high school followed by a tour in the Navy. He worked for many years as a Civil Service firefighter and finished his career as a Laidlaw School Bus Driver. While living with his family in Sprague, WA, he was a volunteer fireman and EMT, and in retirement years occasionally volunteered at Spokanes Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Lewis loved his family and many wonderful longtime friends who he often entertained with his quick wit and humor. He enjoyed reading, camping, estate sale browsing, and was remarkably good at Wii bowling. He fulfilled his lifetime goal of traveling to Australia and recently attended the Gonzaga Mens West Coast Conference Tournament to cheer on his favorite Zags. Preceding him in death was his longtime friend and companion, Liz Jesser; his parents, Elosia and Clyde; his stepfather, Joseph Harvey; his brother, George Phelps; and his infant sister, Doris Phelps. Lewis is survived by a sister, Claudia Parker; two children, Dorothy (Phelps) Pryor and Paul Brunton; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several very dear cousins, nieces, and nephews, including his beloved niece, Diana Martin. A memorial service is to be held Tuesday, January 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at Moran Cemetery, date and time to be determined.
