Lila Lee Lilienthal Howard

November 24, 1926 - February 03, 2017

Lila Lee Lilienthal Howard Obituary (Age 90) Lila Howard, born on November 24, 1926, passed away peacefully with family at her side on February 3, 2017. Born in the town of Lincoln, WA, the Lilienthal family later moved to Davenport where Ed and Lena raised their 3 kids Robert, Lorraine and Lila on a country farm still known as Lilienthal Mountain. Lila loved sharing stories of riding their horses to school in 6 feet of snow, milking cows, canning food from the garden and Saturday night dances at the Grange and she cherished those memories forever. Lila moved to Spokane and later met Sam Cassel. They married and moved to Republic where they bought the old Bailey Hotel and Tavern. Lila could do it all; Chariot racing at the rodeo, cook, bartend, hunt, fish and through all the hard work and play she was the best mom you could ever ask for. Lila moved the family to Spokane and as a single mom, raised 5 kids, supporting them working as the finest bartender in Hillyard. Never missing her girls square dancing or her boys wrestling matches, Lila was always the feisty, fun redhead that family and friends loved to be around. After raising her kids, she married the love of her life, railroad engineer, Don Howard. In retirement they traveled, golfed, played slots at the local casino and were active members of the Eagles Lodge. They truly enjoyed life together until Don's passing in 2001. Lila is reunited in Heaven with Don; her daughter, Kelly Millard; son, Scott Olsen; her parents, Lena and Ed Lilienthal; her brother, Robert (Josephine) Lilienthal and their kids, Jack and Debbie; and Lilas sister Lorraine (Fred) Bley. She is survived by her children, Robin (Phil) Cunningham, Sam (Ann) Cassel, and Tracy (Carol) Cassel; granddaughters, Brook, Meko, Karlee, Shyla, Perry, and Reese; grandsons, Casey, Sammy, and Trace; great-grandkids, Austin and Zach; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Bobbie, Dixie, Carol, Colleen, Laurie, and Mike. The family is honored to have Pastor Percy "Happy" Watkins deliver a celebration of her life at Fairmount Memorial Park, Sunset Chapel, on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 12:00 noon. Special thanks to the folks at Brookdale Park Place, Doctor and Nursing staff at Valley Hospital and Hospice of Spokane. In lieu of flowers the family requests charitable contributions to: Pastor Happy Watkins, New Hope Baptist Church, 409 S. Greene St., Spokane, WA 99202. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Lila, please visit our Tree Store. Read more Events FEB 3
