Liliana Josephine (Fanelli) Stewart Obituary
(Age 83)
Liliana was born August 8, 1927 in Livorno, Italy passed peacefully into eternal Jerusalem March 31, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard L. Stewart and sister, Wanda Penchi. Liliana, a World War II war bride was always proud of her Italian, Jewish heritage and held firm to her roots, community and traditions. As a survivor of the Jewish Holocaust, she made clear to her children the history of her family and the sacrifices that her family made for basic life. She often told her favorite stories from the scriptures, sparking interest in her children. She was always consistent in her values and beliefs never wavering. She brought from Italy the values that makes for a beautiful family, not forgetting the things she was taught as a youth. She passed these values on to her family. She was a very sacrificial lady placing family and friends needs ahead of her own. She expressed her love for life, friends and family through cooking. She prepared meals for gatherings large and small, never turning away a single person. Meal times were a time for family to gather together and eat and laugh. A time of sharing and being the "Loud Family". Entering her home you often found her singing and cooking, sauces simmering on the stove, bread being pulled from the oven and warm butter being coated across the crust as the loaves cooled on the racks. Flour sprinkled on the counters as gnocchi were rolled out. She was always honored when the Temple would call and ask her to prepare meals for events. Her time in the Temple kitchen was always a memorable time. She is survived by her daughter Deloris and husband Fred Bonser, sons Roy and wife Lucia Stewart, Robert and wife Olga Stewart, Rick and wife Stephanie Stewart, Larry and wife Lourdes Stewart, Donald and wife Deanna Stewart, 13 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
