Lola Faye Moore

Lola Faye Moore Obituary Lola Faye Moore was 84 at the time of her death on Wednesday, December 12, 2011 in Spokane, WA. She succumbed to cancer. She was born in Medical Lake, WA on May 27, 1927, to Opal Adams and Charles W. Minnick. After graduation from Lewis and Clark High School she married Charlie Gilbreth. They had one daughter, Kitty Smith who now resides in Batesville, AR. During WWII she worked at Fairchild Air Force Base cleaning the planes as they came back from their missions. She had many stories from her time there including the time she saw the Norton Bomb site or the time she accidentally got in the plane that was powdered up with live weapons while the planes next to it were fully fueled and ready for their next mission. They could have blown up if any one of the weapons discharged. Her second marriage was to John G. Moore. They were married for four years and had a son named Tim Moore who now resides in Spokane, WA. During their time together they lived in Iowa and California. After her divorce she came back to Medical Lake and worked in her father's dry goods store. Her other favored job was as a switchboard operator at the Spokesman-Review. She also worked at Eastern State Hospital as well as owned and operated a small restaurant with Marion Blood which is now Zips by Whitworth College. She attended Whitworth College and received her B.A. in social work and went to work at DHS as a social worker were she advanced in quality control. She enjoyed being able to help other people. She continued her education and earned her Masters Degree. She enjoyed writing and has had many books published. Her favorite genre's were poems and children's books. Her other hobbies included drawing and painting. She was a devoted catholic. She has won many awards at the fair for her endeavors. She was honored by the International Society of Poets with the award of International Poet of Merit in March of 2002. She is survived by her daughter Kitty Smith of Batesville, AR, her son Tim Moore and wife Ronette, five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren by Kitty Smith and 1 grandson by Tim Moore. She has requested no services but to have a farewell celebration party to remember her joy in life. A celebration of her life will be held at Reboot Coffee Bar, 501 S. Thor Spokane, WA from 7 pm to 9 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2011. If you have any questions her son can be reached at 509-981-6352. There will also be one in Arkansas with the family.
