Louis “Louie” Vito Miacolo

With his beloved family by his side, and being strong in his Catholic Christian faith, Louie was peacefully called home to heaven on July 11, 2026.

Louie was born on February 27, 1946, in Spokane, Washington, to Vito and Antonetta Miacolo. The youngest of five children, he spent his entire life in the Spokane area. When Louie was young, his father passed away and his mother later married Angelo DeFiore, a wonderful man who raised him as his own. Louie often spoke fondly of him.

Louie began his career with the Burlington Northern Railroad at a young age and spent 42 years there as a dedicated Carman. He respected his coworkers greatly and, even after retirement, organized regular lunches so they could stay connected.

Shortly after starting at the railroad, Louie began his family. To his last days, he cherished every moment spent with his children.

In retirement, Louie loved spending time with his friends. He had cherished daily routines — breakfast with one group and dinner with another. He was also a passionate Gonzaga Basketball fan. He would hold seats for hours, attend games in person, and often drive to campus to greet the team after road trips. He was the epitome of a Zags fan.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents Vito and Antonetta, his stepfather Angelo, his sisters, Mary, Grace, and Clementine, and his brother Nick.

He is survived by his children: daughter Marina (Gary), daughter Francie, son Michael (Tracy), and son Joel (Misty); 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 23^rd at St. Bernadette Catholic Parish (St. Francis Xavier). 545 E. Providence Ave. Spokane WA with a Graveside Service to follow at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery, Spokane, WA.

We will all miss Louie’s wonderful sense of humor, contagious laugh, and love of life.
