November 23, 1931 - July 13, 2023

Louis Richard Becker Obituary Louis Richard Becker 91, passed away peacefully on July 13th, 2023 at his home in Spokane, Washington. Louie was born November 23rd, 1931 in Ritzville, WA to parents Hannah and John Becker. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the Marines, serving in the Korean war. He was awarded a purple heart with 1 star, and the Korean Service metal in 1951. Louie married his life-long love, Ann Louise Materne in 1955 and the couple had four children; Daniel (Marianne) Becker, Stephen (Stacy) Becker, Gary (Julie) Becker and Luann (Brent) Dodge. He worked in construction most of his life, early on building homes with Capp Homes and later, building a successful business, LouGar Construction, with his son Gary. Most of the family have received the benefits of a home framed by the Beckers and been included in the building process, even a couple of us that previously did not know how to swing a hammer. Louie was always the guy who jumped into a project with a smile. He would often be found helping friends or family with his construction expertise and hard work attitude. Lou also loved fishing (documented by many pictures with almost every family member), hunting, and beating all of us at Pinochle or Cribbage. He taught us about good sportsmanship and friendly competition, sharing and laughing, and that he cared about whoever was sitting across the table from him. Louie was the shining example of a solid Christian man who loved his God, his family, his community and his country. And to his wife Ann, your family thanks you for the many years of caregiving you gave Louie, such an amazing gift of grace. Louie is survived by his wife, Ann; four children, nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hannah Becker and his two brothers, Virgil and Walt Becker. It cannot go without saying, Louie and Ann have always made a point of enjoying gatherings with family and friends, especially at their lake home on Twin Lakes, Idaho. The 4th of July celebrations and every summer weekend at the lake, as well as many snowy, winter excursions will be treasured memories for the whole family and many friends along the way.
