Lucille Doreen (Mitchell) Nopanen Obituary (Age 89) Died peacefully on October 8, 2012, at St. Joseph's Care Center in Spokane. She was born December 9, 1922, in Horton, Kansas, to Harry and Dora Mitchell. Both parents died when Lucille was a child. She lived with family in Horton, Kansas, and in Grand Coulee, Washington. She married Charles W. Whaley in 1939, and they raised their family eventually settling in Spokane. When her children were raised, Lucille worked as a manager at a drapery company. The first marriage ended in divorce, and Lucille married Larry Nopanen in 1966. Their love of the family was evidenced in many ways, including opening their cabin in Idaho for friends and family. Lucille's oldest daughter, Mary Charlene Kistler, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Larry Nopanen; her children, Nancy Whaley-Bagley, Judy Whaley-Garnella, Linda Hilton, and Robert W. (Wes) and Janice Whaley; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. A celebration
