November 13, 1930 - February 25, 2017

Lucille Francis Reimer Obituary (Age 86) Lucille F. Reimer passed away February 25, 2017 after a battle with lung cancer. Lucille was born in Spokane in 1930 to parents Pearl and Henry VandenBos. Lucille was #8 of the 9 children her mother Pearl had and raised. Lucille attended Spokane public schools until 1943 when she moved to Wenatchee and attended HB Ellison Jr. H.S. where she was a member of the band as a baton twirling majorette. She attended and graduated early from Wenatchee H.S. because this is where she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Robert Dean Reimer. They were so in love that a story was written in their school newspaper about students who have that "you belong to me look and I Love it" it was written in that story about Bob and Lucille "that it is obvious when they are together that they are that way about each other". She graduated early so she could marry her high school sweetheart on March 15, 1949, as he had recently joined the Air Force. In June of 1949 they were stationed in Mt. Homes Air Force Base, where they lived in their first home, a caboose. In November 1949, they were transferred to Fairfield-Siusun, CA where in 1951 they welcomed their first son, Robert Dean Reimer, Jr. Soon after in 1951, the family was transferred to Riverside, CA, where they welcomed their second son, Richard Alan Reimer, in 1952. The next transfer they received was in 1954 to Guam, and yes, if you are following the pattern here..... they welcomed their third son, Donald Ron Reimer, in 1956 to round out their happy family. They were stationed in Spokane, WA at Fairchild AFB from 1956-58, then 1958 - 1963 in Bellevue NB, at Offutt AFB, then 1963 - 1966 near Madrid, Spain at Torrejoan AFB, in 1966 back to Bellevue NB, at Offutt AFB where Robert retired from service with the Air Force in 1970 after 21 years of military service. After retiring the family moved back to settle in Spokane, WA. Lucille has always had a passion for helping others and has volunteered her time throughout her life. While raising her three sons, she volunteered at their schools as room mother, volunteered in church, was a Cub Scout den mother, and team mom for her boys baseball teams. After retirement, Lucille volunteered at several places: Community Mental Health Center Crisis line 1986-1994, Planned Parenthood 1995-1997, American Red Cross disaster team 1996 - 2001, Inland NW Blood Center 1997 - 2002, Cancer Patient Care 2001 2013 and Hospice of Spokane 2013 - 2016. At every one of these places, she gained lifelong friends and has become a lifelong friend to so many. She loves and appreciates the place you have all had in her life and heart. Lucille loved spending time with family and friends! She enjoyed playing softball and played until there were 4 generations of family on the field playing together. She enjoyed painting and the time spent with friends in her Palette and Brush painting group. She would have fun going bowling often with friends and family. She loved to cook, but especially loved it because it brought and kept her family close together for dinner on Fridays, on every birthday, holiday and special occasion. She has loved traveling in the motorhome with the love of her life, her husband of 67 years. The two of them have logged more than 200,000 miles in their motorhome seeing the country they served for so many years and visiting all of the friends they have made throughout their lives. Lucille has left a beautiful impact on so many of our lives. She has taught so many how to love by her example of how she loved people! Lucille leaves behind her loving husband, Bob, and the three wonderful sons they feel God blessed them with since they had been told by doctors that they could not have children, Bob (Karen), Rich (Mary), and Don. These blessing grew into 5 grandchildren, 2 grandchildren of the heart, 6 great grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren of the heart and 3 great-great grandchildren, and the love keeps going with another great grandchild on the way. Lucille's siblings; Hank (Helen), Tom, Lena (Bud), Rachel (Oliver), Dan (Dorothy), Goldie (Lou), Thys, Frank (Carol). Lucille also leaves behind many friends that held such a special place in her heart, so much that they were and are considered family by Lucille and her family.
