Maida G. Fast

September 23, 1918 - November 10, 2009

Maida G. Fast Obituary (Age 91) Maida G. Fast, of Spokane, WA. Our sweet mother, grandma, and great grandma (GG) was born on Sept. 23, 1918 in Laurel, Nebraska and passed away on Nov. 10, 2009 after having a stroke on Oct. 28th. She was looking forward to going to her heavenly home and is now free from suffering and is with Jesus her savior whom she would tell about every chance she got. In the early 1950's she held a weekly Bible Club in her home for the neighborhood children, using a flannel board and figures to tell the stories. She worked in an orthopedic surgeon's office and later was the church secretary for 25 years. She was a seamstress extraordinaire, sewing everything beautifully from wedding and bridesmaid dresses to small intricate doll clothes. She continued to do mending for anyone who needed it where she lived at the Academy Retirement Community in Spokane. She also loved to play Bingo there with her pals. AND she made the best pot roast and scalloped potatoes in the land! She is survived by her daughter Carol Lynn (Dick), her granddaughter Karen Collins (Craig), her grandson Rick Lynn (Kristin) and her great grandchildren Sydney Collins, Shelby Collins, and Hayden Lynn. Also survived by her sisters Barbara Gildersleeve (Vance) and Virginia Martensen (Russ) and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Vern, and her two day old baby, Janice. Special thanks for the excellent and compassionate care given by Linda Serowski of Helping Hands, Manorcare, Holy Family Hospital, Hospice House of Spokane, and for the care and concern given by the folks at the Academy. She wished to convey to all of us: "God be with you 'till we meet again". A Memorial Service will be Sat. Nov. 21, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at South Hill Bible Church, 958 E. 29th Ave., Spokane, WA with Rev. Ron Lowery officiating.
