Margaret A. Prevost

January 02, 1924 - June 05, 2017

Margaret A. Prevost Obituary (Age 93) Margaret Adella Prevost was born January 2, 1924 in Spokane, WA to James Patrick Prevost, Sr. and Ada C. Buckner of Great Falls, MT. She began her life on the ranch with her grandparents, the four Prevost sons, her mom and dad (the 5th Prevost son), her brother and her sister. The ranch was a working cattle ranch of 3,000 acres located between Geyser and Raynesford, Judith Basin, MT. Listening to her stories, she considered herself a tomboy to the 10th degree. She was tough as nails because she was the only little girl on the ranch after her sister died. As she would state many times, it was a mans world on the ranch. As a young girl, her parents relocated her and her brother to Scotia, WA. After her father passed, they moved to Spokane. Margaret lived at that address in Spokane for the remainder of her life. She graduated from John R. Rogers High School and began a long working career for various companies in the capacity of Accounts Receivable/Payable. She was a dedicated daughter and chose to remain living with her mom for the remainder of her days. She loved to dance, snow ski, fish, garden and teach her four nieces about living correctly as well-behaved girls. She also loved to travel and was most fond of the Oregon Coast. Agate Beach was her favorite, bringing home as many lovely stones as she could find to polish and work them into prized possessions. Through the years, she crocheted enough sweaters to keep all four nieces up-to-date with the latest color fashions. Her yard was beautiful and she was the ultimate gardener. She was a ball of energy in creative crafts such as sewing her own clothes, cross stitch, crocheting, and in retirement she made more quilts than can be counted. She also crocheted hats and mittens for children every year and donated through the Louisa Behan Crisis Center. She also donated handmade quilts to the center for families. Her four nieces were privileged to accompany her on many family vacations including the Oregon Coast. She knew the best restaurants in every place they went and that is the only place she would want to eat. She and her brother always ordered a bowl of soup and a homemade piece of pie for lunch on the road, without fail. It was all about the pie! She missed her brother, James P. Jimmy Prevost, who preceded her in death on July 4, 2016. Margaret is survived by her four nieces, Maurene (Kevin) Prevost-Humphrey, Kathy Prevost-Stouffer, Barbra (Gary) Prevost-Daubel, and Beverly (Kevin [deceased]) Prevost-Van Wey; and a long list of great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce Prevost; brother, James; uncles, Jack, Joe, Wallace and William Prevost and Irwin Buckner; aunts, Muriel Buckner, Leila (Burt) Buckner-Fisher; as well as countless other family members. Her family would like to thank beyond what words can say to Bruce and Marlene Loyd of NW Health and Wellness Adult Family Home that loved her and cared for her for nearly three years. They gave her such dignity and supported her 100% and treated her as a member of their family. Her family would also like to thank Hospice of Spokane for assisting with her care during her last years. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 14th from 10am 5pm at Heritage Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 15th at 1pm at Heritage Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Riverside Memorial Park. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Margaret, please visit our Tree Store.
