Margaret Agnes (Varner Holien) Pierce Obituary (Age 89) Margaret passed away September 6, 2012 in Spokane. She was born September 26, 1922 to George and Agnes Angel. Margaret was born and raised in Hillyard, attending Bemis Elementary and graduating from John Rogers High School in January 1940. On February 23, 1940 she married George Pierce, they were married 37 years until his death in 1977. She worked for the Spokane Credit Bureau for 25 years, the US Bureau of Miners for 10 years, and in her spare time enjoyed reading, crocheting and word puzzles. Margaret also enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and followed WSU football and Gonzaga basketball. She was a member of the Eagles and Women of the Moose. She spent many hours dancing and playing Bingo there. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, and infant daughter Schelly Areta, husbands George Pierce, Cecil Varner and Jerry Holien. She is survived by her son William (Judy) Pierce, Benton City, WA, daughters Sharon (Robert) Waycott, Abbotsford, BC, and Shelley (Kim) Lundberg, Spokane, 6 grandkids, 10 great-grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 14 at 11am at Heritage Funeral Home.
