Marguerite B Quackenbush

December 28, 1923 - March 14, 2016

Marguerite B Quackenbush Obituary (Age 92) Marguerite (Babe) Quackenbush left this earth on March 14, 2016. Babe grew up in Spokane and attended North Central High School, where she met the love of her life, Harley. You could always see the twinkle in her eye when she spoke of her courtship days. And, after Harley's return from serving in the Army overseas, they married and set upon starting a family. They owned a mom and pop grocery store for a time, and eventually settled in with Harley employed as a postal carrier, and Babe working within a school cafeteria. To say that family was important to Babe would be an understatement. She lived for her family, and the loss of her oldest son, Larry, at age 19, was a crushing blow. She made it through nonetheless, and survived another heartbreak with the loss of Harley to cancer a few years later. In later years, Babe definitely found solace in her planned return to her love. Babe was very creative, enjoying painting and writing pursuits. She loved holiday get-togethers, playing cards with family, or simply 'shooting the breeze,' as she would call it. There was always a hug and a smile for family and friends alike, and she was always game for wine and pull tabs with her daughter Lin. Babe was fortunate to have traveled to many places of the world, including the Mediterranean and Caribbean, but you knew she enjoyed sharing her life with family the most. A strong and lovely woman, Babe continues to live within her three surviving children, Linda, Paul and Rob; as well as her son-in-law Frank, daughter-in-law Darlene, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and, of course, her loyal dog Amber. She will be missed by all who knew her, and appreciated for the benefit of having her in their lives. Services will be held at 2:00pm on April 29th at Pines Cemetery. Gathering of family and friends will follow at 3:30pm at the Cathay Inn on north Division. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Spokane. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Marguerite, please visit our Tree Store. Read more Events MAR 14
