Maria Lucia Broderhausen

April 29, 1921 - December 31, 2011

Maria Lucia Broderhausen Obituary In the 90 year span of her life on planet earth Maria (known to most as Mary) touched many with her contagious smile, laugh and fine sense of humor, her dedication to and faith in God, her honed intuitive sense, her generosity and desire to serve (often thru her fine Italian cooking), her compassion, her stubbornness, her willingness to forgive, her love of life and family. Maria was born in Mt. Morris, NY to Giorlando and Josephine Nasca and into a family of six older brothers and a younger sister. She was married to Henry "Hank" for 54 years before his passing in 1997. She had a twinkle in her eye for which Henry fell head over heels, telling her as they said goodnight after their first date that he was going to marry her. He probably thought it was all his idea! Together again, Mary and Henry are survived by three children and their spouses (Jerry-Margaret of Renton, Rich-Kris of Spokane, and Grace Schluter-Byron of Spokane) ; seven grandchildren (Richie Broderhausen-Patty, Patrick Broderhausen-Rachel, Tamara Owens, Christopher Owens- Jennifer, Tonya Leija -Andy, Sarah Stancik-Blake, and Russell Owens-Kelsey), and 12.98 great-grandchildren (Zachary, Cobi, Sydney, Lance, Audrey, Joaquin, Zoe, Ashton, Sabrynna, Katrynna, Atreyu, Landon, and a boy due Jan. 9th; also by numerous nieces and nephews. Career-wise Mary was most proud of her 10 years as a nurse's aide at Sacred Heart Hospital. She was a great one! She had many friends through her affiliations with St. Charles and Assumption Parishes, Unity Church of North Spokane, Seminarian Mothers and the Western Fruit Railway Women's Auxilary. Maria was preceded in passing by sister Grace and brothers Angelo, Frank, Charlie, Joe, Phil and Tom. Visitation noon - 5pm at Heritage on Thursday, January 5. Funeral Service - 11 AM Friday, January 6 at Assumption Parish - 3624 W Indian Trail Rd, entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery and Reception/Sharing at 1:30 pm at Unity Center of North Spokane - 4123 E. Lincoln Rd. Please make donations in Maria's honor to Hospice House of Spokane directly - 367 E 7th Ave. Spokane 99202.
