Marianne Wilson, 74, of Spokane, passed away on June 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, after a brave and unwavering eight-year battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer.
Born on February 4, 1951, in Compton, California, Marianne graduated from Westminster High School in 1969. After graduating from high school, she attended Southern California College of Medical and Dental Assistants graduating as a Dental Assistant on February 19, 1970. Shortly after, she proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where she served honorably for seven years achieving the rank of Yeoman 2nd Class. Marianne’s first assignment was to RVAW-110, NAS North Island, San Diego where she was honored as Sailor of the Month in March 1973. Upon re-enlisting, she was transferred to the U.S. Naval Element, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) Belgium. While stationed at SHAPE, she met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Wilson. They knew it would be difficult to be stationed together so she made the decision to leave the Navy and became his biggest supporter while raising their family. After her service in US Navy she earned her Associates Degree in Business Administration. They were married on June 19, 1976 and shared nearly 49 years of deep and devoted marriage.
Following her military service, Marianne continued to serve her community through various roles in both government and civilian sectors. She worked for the U.S. Military Intelligence School as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Morse Code division of Military Intelligence Center and School in Ft. Devens, Massachusetts. While living in Germany, she was employed by the Director of Logistics and the Corps of Engineers in Frankfurt, Germany as the Directors’ Administrative Assistant. She was known for her strong work ethic, sharp sense of humor, and ability to make lasting friendships wherever she went.
Family was incredibly important to Marianne. While her girls were young, as a family they were committed to Girl Scouts of America for over 15 years. Marianne had a deep love for travel, a good glass of wine, and above all, spending time with her Grandchildren. Whether cheering them on at events or offering her unwavering support, being a Grandmother brought her immeasurable joy.
She is survived by her beloved husband Bob; her three daughters, Pam Wilson of Texas, Tiffany (Jason) Pimentel of California, and Rebecca (Steven) Pate of Washington and her eight Grandchildren: Michael (Erica), Aaron (Sara), Kayli (Jimmy), Chloe (Jackson), Jason Jr., Bryce, Jayda, and Baylie.
