Marie Calvert Owen, known to us as Marie, was born October 28th, 1933, in South Bend, Indiana, to Cleo Frances Witt and William Franklin Calvert. She lived in Indiana until she moved to Greenville, South Carolina, in 1962, where she worked in the business office of Bob Jones University.

In 1976 she met and married Dawson David Owen and moved to Spokane, Washington, where she spent the rest of her life. Through her marriage she became a stepmother to David Arthur Owen and Esther “Tita” Owen Wyatt. She was a loving mother-in-law to Thomas Earl Wyatt Jr. and grandmother to Benjamin Ross Owen, Jacob Daniel Owen, Christina Kimberley Wyatt and Thomas Earl Wyatt III. She became a widow in 1998.

Marie enjoyed attending church, watching cooking shows and visiting with friends, and she was known as a true prayer warrior. She was a “people” person who was never happier than when she could watch others, speak with them, and learn more about their lives. Marie will be greatly missed by her family and by all her friends who knew her at Christ the Redeemer and Fourth Memorial Church
