Marilyn Feldkamp

Marilyn was born to Merriam and Alvilda Jones on May 20, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN. She was their only child. Following her dad's graduation from the university of North Dakota, they moved to Washington, DC. In 1939, they sailed to Puerto Rico where Marilyn grew up in Mayaguez, PR, returning to Washington, DC in 1945. She graduated from Washington-Lee High School at the age of 16. After her dad received his PhD in organic chemistry, they went to Guatemala. Marilyn completed two years of college at the university of San Carlos, in Guatemala, returning to the George Washington University (GW) in Washington, DC to complete her studies.

Her love of music led her to playing the violin and singing in several local choirs. She was a member of the traveling troubadours at GW going to Labrador, Baffin Island and the north pole to entertain the military troops.

Marilyn taught Spanish at the department of state to air force members who were assigned to Latin American posts. There she met her husband, Dan who was assigned to Cuba. She enjoyed her 19 years as an air force wife with posts in California, Virginia, Texas, Florida, Maryland and to include seven glorious years in the Bavarian alps of Germany. She often said having her five children in local hospitals in Cuba, California, Virginia and Germany was a good topic for conversation.

After Dan's retirement, they moved to Maryland where she worked for the Rouse company for 22 years. During that time, she received her master's degree. While working at the Rouse company, she also taught evening classes in technology at Howard Community College and Goucher University.

Marilyn retired in 1991. They moved to Cincinnati, OH where she worked for the Sisters of St. Joseph doing fund-raising for the order. Retiring again, they moved to Yuma, AZ. They traveled throughout the west and Hawaii eventually calling Spokane their home in 1999.

Marilyn was a devout parishioner of Mt St Michaels. She was an enthusiastic quilter, member of quilt charmers and Washington state of quilters. She was an avid reader, happiest when surrounded by books.

Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Dan of 62 years, and her daughter Carole Anne. She leaves behind her greatest accomplishment in her life, four children Mary (Fields), Tierney (Smith), her caregiver Diane (Feldkamp) and Edward Feldkamp along with five grandchildren, nine Great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A service will be held at Mt St. Michael in Spokane, WA on Monday July 6^th at 9am.
