Marion "Jean" Thompson Obituary (Age 99) Jean Thompson of Spokane, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, March 28, 2016. Born November 3, 1916, in Poplar, MT, to Arthur and Merle (Montgomery) Nelson, she was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband of 58 years, John ?Arley? Thompson. Jean attended the University of Montana and Butte Business College, where she was granted a Scholarship. Before her marriage in 1940, she worked as secretary to the Missoula County Attorney. She and her husband owned dry cleaners in Libby, MT, and Spokane. She was also a nursing home administrator at Latah Center, Spokane. Jean and Arley were among the first residents of Riverview Village in Spokane. She loved Priest Lake, huckleberries, Boston Terriers and gardening. She was, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, fondly known as ?Mammy?. She is survived by son John Thompson, daughters Julie (Bob) Landwehr, and Mary (Ralph) Etter, four grandchildren Aimee (Keats) Aiken, Beth (Chris) Brennan, Michael Thompson, Stephen (Alexandra) Thompson, and three great grandchildren, Cooper and Jane Aiken and Josie Thompson. Her family attributes her longevity to her positive outlook and a daily dose of ice cream. Very special thanks to the kind and thoughtful staff of Riverview Care Center. Private services to be held at Riverside Memorial Park.
