Marjorie H. Hopewell Obituary Marjorie "Marge" Hattie Hopewell (Herner) was born in Mott, ND, on September 29, 1926, and entered into rest on October 22, 2014. She was raised in a large family, having 10 sisters and 3 brothers. Marge graduated from Mott High School then moved to Bowman, ND, where she met Reid, her husband of 44 years. Marge worked various retail jobs, but the job she loved most was teaching in a one room country school in rural ND. Marge continued teaching her children and grandchildren throughout their education. The family moved to Spokane in 1969. Margie's zealous reading facilitated her "Jeopardy" pro status. She was an excellent cook and compassionate person, who would never let a guest go home hungry. Marge is survived by five children, Diane Hill of Fargo, ND, Sandra (Gregory) Smith, Rita Slocum (Darin Evans), Kevin Hopewell and Carin Harris all of Spokane, WA. Surviving are four grandchildren Mark (Jessi) Hill of Tower City, ND, Krystle Schneider, Joseph Harris and Kyle Collins all of Spokane, WA and three great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Samuel and Reid Hill of Tower City, ND. Also surviving are three siblings Mercedes Fraase of Tacoma, WA., Gabriel (Sheila) Herner of Kirkland, WA, and George (Delores) Herner of Mount Vernon, WA, plus three brothers-in-law, Lawrence Hoerner of Spokane, WA, Ronald Berry of Bonners Ferry, ID, and Raymond White of Holton, KS. Numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews also survive. Preceding her in death was her husband, Reid, son Michael, parents Frank and Elizabeth Herner, in-laws Charles and Olive Hopewell as well as 9 sisters, 1 brother, 7 brothers-in-law, 4 sisters-in-law and 6 nephews. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:00 am at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way Spokane, WA. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
