Mark Leon Shelby Obituary (Age 53) Mark passed away September 16th, 2010 at his home in Spokane, WA with his wife Jan, by his side. Mark was born December 29th, 1956 in Twin Falls, ID. He graduated from Glenns Ferry High School, Class of 1975. He then attended and graduated from Brigham Young University, Class of 1980, receiving a degree in Accounting. Mark served an honorable full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rio de Janeiro North from 1976-1978. Mark was sealed to Jan E Rumsey on December 27th, 1979 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for time and all eternity. He resided in Burley, ID, Glenns Ferry, ID, Provo, UT, Twin Falls, ID, Idaho Falls, ID, and Spokane, WA. Each place he lived, Mark made lasting friendships. He was full of life, and his career was always exciting for him. He began employment with Stan Snow CPA in Twin Falls, and throughout the rest of his life a successful self-employed businessman and entrepreneur. Mark's accounting practice was full of friends and loved ones that he cared for deeply. Mark was always up for anything including camping trips with family, being a Cowboy, boating, waterskiing, snow skiing, and golfing. He enjoyed getting together with loved ones, always making every effort to attend gatherings with family and friends. Mark loved his wife and boys, daughters-in-love, and his grandchildren. Being a grandfather was such a joy to Mark. His grandchildren were constantly the center of his thoughts and life, and he made sure to share that love with them and all those around. He valued family traditions big and small; from Schweitzer ski trips, to Wolf Lodge dinners. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as Scout Master, Young Men's President, Branch Presidency of the Prison Outreach Program, Ward Clerk, and Home Teacher. He was also involved in the community from Student Body President of Glenns Ferry High School, to most recently President of the BYU Alumni Association in Spokane WA. Mark loved serving the youth in Boy Scouts of America, and coaching sports. Mark is survived by his wife Jan Shelby; and their three sons Kreg (Kiersten), Matthew (Courtney), and Ryan all of Spokane, WA; father Dale L. Shelby of Twin Falls, ID; his sisters Dian of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Sue Ann (James) Stanger of Helena MT; and brother Joseph D (Amber) Shelby of Highland, UT; grandchildren Kalle, Tysen, and Dylan. He was preceded in death by his mother Betty L. Shelby, sister Darla K. Hall, and grandparents Joseph and Alice Shelby. Visitation Tuesday, September 21, 2010 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral Service Wednesday, September 22, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Stake Center, 1620 E 29th Ave. Interment to follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
