Marshall "Don" Donald Stark Obituary
On January 22, 2010 Marshall "Don" Stark, surrounded by his family, set sail to be with our Lord, our Savior. Marshall lived a full life, traveled the world and made many friends. He loved to travel,
cook, fish, garden, raise animals, watch movies and spend time with his family. Marshall was born on May 9th 1946 in Honolulu, HI. In 1964 he joined the US Navy, served in Vietnam and ultimately rose to the rank of Command Master Chief. He completed tours in Alaska, Guam, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Hawaii and Iceland. His service included duty as Command Chief on board USS Thomas A. Edison, USNS H.H. Hess, M.E.P.S. Seattle, Trident Training Facility Bangor, Defense Forces Iceland, Naval Station Annapolis, the U.S. Naval Academy and the world famous Black Ravens of VAQ-135. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, two Joint Services Commendation Medals, two Navy Commendation Medals, the Navy Achievement Medal, and many other unit and service awards. After 28 years of service, he retired on May 24th 1991 and moved to Newport, WA. Continuing in his desires to help others, Marshall became the Adult Literacy and Employment Specialist for Rural Resources of Newport, WA. He later went back to school and became a Registered Nurse, retiring from Sacred Heart Medical Center after 10 years due to illness. Marshall died of a terminal lung disease. He is preceded in death by his parents Harmon and Winifred Stark. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Bice Stark, daughters Simonetta (Bill) Eggleson and Patrizia Stark, sons Aaron (Angela) Stark and John (Molly Jo) Stark, ten grandkids, three great grandkids, sisters Cheryl (Lannie) Rutherford, April (George) Lemire, brother Tom (Dee) Stark, nieces and nephews and many close and dear friends. Funeral services will be held in the LDS Stake Center at 401 W. Regina on January 30th, 2010. The viewing starts at 11:00 AM and the ceremony at 12:00 PM; followed by the burial at Greenwood Memorial Terrace at 211 N Government Way, Spokane.
