Martha Alice Hegel Obituary Martha Alice Hegel went home to our Lord on August 2, 2016. She came into this world, December 5, 1935 in Glen Ullin, North Dakota, the daughter of Benjamin and Matilda Schultz. She grew up in a very large family, with six brothers and three sisters. After high school, Martha became a school teacher. She received her AA degree later on. In 1957, Martha married Edward Hegel. Not long after, they moved to Glendive, Montana, and started a family, welcoming their first child, Joan. Then it was on to Spokane, where they completed their family, with Gerard, Carla, John, and Paul. In 1968 the Hegel family bought a farm. Martha became a 4H leader. Children loved and respected her. Martha was always active in her church. She was a true servant of the Lord, a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the St. Elizabeth Guild. Martha Hegel was loved by many. People of all ages adored her. She loved to laugh, and dance, and sing. As a matter of fact, she was a great dancer. She was a spunky one. Her smile was so beautiful. She is survived by her children, Joan (Roger) Grimes, Gerard (Laura)Hegel, Carla (Bryan) Galbraith, John (Nancy) Hegel, and Paul (Diane)Hegel, her brothers, Kenneth Schultz, Barney Schultz, Burton Schultz, and Clifford Schultz, sisters, Norma VanVorst, and Kathy Grefsheim, also the joys in her world, her ten grandchildren, Brian, Brenda, Jennifer, Travis, Stacy, Jordan, Trevor, Alexander, Amanda and Ben, also five great grandchildren, Jack, Jenna, Adeline, Braelynn, and Jessa.
