Mary Ann Ortiz

July 25,1935 ~ January 18, 2026


Mary Ann Ortiz passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, the daughter of Manual and Victoria (Torres) Ramirez. Mary was born and raised in Grand Island, Nebraska. She moved on her own to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1956 where she met and married the love of her life, Blas Ortiz, he was in the military so they moved a lot, but always called Grand Island home.


Mary Ann loved spending time with her new family and friends , thrift shopping and going to the casino.


She had 6 children; Rose (Ortiz), Lydia (Ortiz), Blas Ortiz Jr., Jose Ortiz, Carmen (Darnn) and Mario Ortiz. She was known to all her loving grandkids and great grandkids as “Yaya”. Oh how she loved them all!


She was preceded in death by her parents; Victoria and Manuel Ramirez, loving husband, Blas Ortiz, her beloved brother Mario, her sister Lola and many close friends and family.


A serivce for Mary Ann will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N Government Way, Spokane, WA 99224 on February 5, 2026 at 2 PM. All flowers can be delivered to the funeral home.


All are welcome to come a celebrate the life of Mary Ann Ortiz.
