August 18, 1935 - January 26, 2019

Mary Janet Pease Fuller Peterson Obituary August 18, 1935 January 26, 2019 (Age 83) Janet was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was born in Tacoma, Washington on August 18, 1935, to Aileen Somers Pease and Aldridge C. Pease. She grew up in Tacoma, Washington and was a sister to Robb (Fran) and Susan (George). She graduated from Stadium High School and attended University of Oregon. In 1956, she met John Peterson on a blind date set up by his Aunt Topsy. He said that he would take her on one date they were married six months later on April 27, 1957 at St. Johns Cathedral in Spokane. She and John, a Finance Officer and 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, then moved to Germany where their life of travels commenced. Over the span of 61 years of marriage, they visited 110 countries, many more than once. Janet has made an extensive library of travel albums documenting these travels. She was an exceptional photographer and loved getting to know people in faraway lands. Back in America, Janet was a wonderful mother to three children: Claire, Melissa, and Robb. She studied the art of cooking and put on holiday dinners that were always a treat and included spectacular desserts and beautifully set tables. She was an impeccable seamstress and gifted with a set of knitting needles. She has knit Christmas stockings and sweaters for each of her six grandchildren: Danny, Lily, MacArthur, Erik, Alexander and Elizabeth. Janet was active in local charities and served as President of the Spokane Art School, Trustee of the Eastern Washington Historical Society (the MAC), and Chairman of the Campbell House Committee. At the Campbell House, she organized auctions of dinners that she and John would prepare and host. She also organized, for many years, the annual Campbell House Wassail Party. Janet has left a profound legacy of service, love for people, and excitement for travel. She has left a hole in our hearts, and will be forever missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, cousins and friends.
