Mary Katherine Hood Obituary (Age 97) Mary Katherine Hood was born May 24, 1919 to Arthur and Ninetta True. She was the only girl, she had two brothers Art and Bob. She grew up in Hillyard, graduated high school from John R Rogers, then went on to get a teaching degree at EWU. After graduating she went on to many different teaching jobs from a one room school house to high school. She loved working with children. On September 8, 1946 she married Jack Hood. They adopted twins in 1950 Deborah and Bob. She stayed home to raise the children but teaching never left her as she became a Cub Scout mom and was always helping the kids with school work. After Jack retired, they did a lot of traveling to many different countries and all over the United States. She loved to do the Sunday crossword and read a good book. She got much joy from her great-grandchildren who would always go to grandmas for a tea party and cookies. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Hood; her son Bob Hood and brothers Art and Bob. Survivors include daughter Deborah Hoyt; granddaughter Kristin (Eric) Martzall; grandson Cameron (Lisa) Hood; great-grandchildren Katie, Mackenzie, Emma, Maggie and Lydia and numerous nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 3 pm at Fairmount Memorial Park. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Mary, please visit our Tree Store.
