In Loving Memory of

Mary Lee Matherly

May 7, 1956 – May 13, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Mary Matherly, on May 13, 2025, just six days after celebrating her 69th birthday.

Born on May 7, 1956, Mary was a woman of immense kindness and generosity, known for her heart of gold and her unwavering love for family, friends, and community. She was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone, often placing the needs of others before her own without hesitation.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Louis “Chick” and Iola DiCicco ‘Anderson”.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 49+ years, Mark Matherly; her son, Mark Matherly Jr.; and her daughter, Dayleen Green (Dan). She was the proud grandmother to Nakita, Kassie, Jackie, Jesse, Joey, and Abigail—and the joyful great-grandmother to five beautiful great-grandchildren.

She also leaves behind her beloved siblings: Dan DiCicco (Charlotte) and May Hazzard (David), all of whom she cherished deeply.

Mary spent many years working at Safeway, where she became a familiar and friendly face to countless customers. Her radiant smile and kind spirit made a lasting impression on everyone who came through her line. She had a way of making each person feel seen and valued.
