Mary May (Howard) Schretenthaler Obituary Passed away June 20, 2009 at Columbia Care Cottage in Hermiston, OR. She was born April 30, 1922 in Cut Bank, MT, the fifth child of Charles and Minnie Howard. Mary married Joseph Schretenthaler on June 6, 1947 at Moscow, ID. They celebrated 52 years of marriage. She went to the University of Idaho for two years during WWII studying business and she worked as a bookkeeper for 35 years. After retirement she volunteered at Faith Bible Church as a bookkeeper for ten years. She served as a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader and was involved in Whitman Elementary PTA. She was the sole caregiver for her husband Joseph who suffered with kidney disease for many years. The last five years she has lived with her four children and most recently she has been cared for with love by her caregivers. Mary will be missed by many, but she is now home with her Heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, brothers Nelson and Thomas Howard and her sister Helen Boles. Survived by children: Marjorie (Gene) Jorgenson of Stanfield, OR, Joseph M. Schretenthaler of Spokane, Julia (William L.) Williams of Oklahoma City, OK, Charles (Janice) Schretenthaler of Spring, TX; sisters Irene Johnson of Hazelton, ID and Hazel June Tuttle of Payette, ID; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Memorial Service 3:00PM Tuesday July 14, 2009 at Faith Bible Church 600 W. Cora Ave. Spokane and memorial contributions can be made to the church.
