Maryann Emma Gerling Obituary (Age 88) Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Sister, and Aunt passed away on September 2, 2016. She went home to be with our beloved Lord in heaven, she was welcomed by her husband Donald, parents Bernard and Kathleen(Beyerink) Olberding, infant son David, daughter Kathy, sons-in-law Chuck and Mark and numerous brothers and sisters. She is dearly loved and will be missed by her children Linda Thomas, Mariyn (Jerry) Banfield, Peggy Ochoa and Michael Gerling, sister Rosedna, grandchildren Marcia, Dana, Swaine, Erica; Heath, Clarissa, Jasmine, Milyda and Micheila, great-grandchildren William, Natasha, Gwenerve, Kenny, Taila, Rowan and Ryder as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Maryann was born on September 14, 1927, She lived on their farm in Randolph, NE where she lived until leaving home. She worked as a waitress when she met the love of her life Donald Gerling. They married in March 28, 1950. They then moved to Bonners Ferry, ID and then from there to Spokane where she lived the rest of her life. She worked at Shriners Hospital for Children for numerous years until she retired in 1989. Maryann was loved by those who were lucky enough to be in her life. Family meant everything to her. She was a beautiful person with a generous spirit and was a wonderful mother who raised her children with traditions, morals, and principles. She taught them to be strong, and independent. Her grandchildren were her greatest joys in her life. She enriched the lives of all who knew her, especially the few who weren't actually born to her, but still lucky enough to call her mom. She enjoyed wrestling and never missed a show! She also enjoyed embroidering, crocheting and sewing. She spent many hours sewing clothes for her daughters when they were young. She requested that there be no funeral service, however there will be a memorial in her honor at a later date. Inurnment will be at Riverside Memorial Park.
