Maynard Eugene "Mike" Loewen Obituary (Age 86) Passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane. Mike was born on July 15, 1925 in LaCrosse, Kansas where he grew up. He attended high school at Sheyenne River Academy in Harvey, North Dakota, and subsequently earned his bachelor's degree from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mike spent 40 years of his life as a men's residence hall dean and served as dean and recruitment officer for 21 years at Walla Walla University, until his retirement in 1987. Mike loved work as a dean; he also loved music. He organized, directed and toured with the WWU male chorus known as the Messengers, performing throughout the nation and overseas. He loved helping students, and he loved his family. Mike was a faithful member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Harrison, AR. Mike was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Lee Loewen. He is survived by his son Greg and daughter-in-law Suzi; by his brother Willard, and sister Loretta, and by his grandchildren Kris, Jennifer and Katherine. He was preceded in death by his parents Pastor George and Emma Loewen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Loewen Messenger Scholarship Fund at Walla Walla University. Visitation will be Tuesday Noon to 8PM at Heritage and Funeral Service 11AM Wednesday May 23, 2012 at Linwood Seventh-day Adventist Church, 6525 N. Monroe in Spokane with burial Friday in Harrison, Arkansas.
