Melody Lavonne Chesnut Obituary (Age 69) Melody grew up in St. John, WA with her parents, Don and Edna Chesnut and her brother, Mark. They spent their entire childhood there. Melody graduated from EWU in Cheney, WA with a degree in education. Soon after, she began teaching in the Liberty School District and remained there until her retirement. Melody lived in Spokane for her entire adult life. She never married, but enjoyed the freedom to do things when and how she wanted to. Her dogs were like her children. Her last dog named Jet was her partner and never left her side. She also loved to hunt and fish and was always active in her community and different organizations. Melody especially cherished the time she was able to spend with her nieces and nephews. She was a great influence on them and the students she taught over the years. Melody was a great daughter, sister and aunt and most of all, friend to all that knew her. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends and there will be a large void in our days ahead without her being here to make times better. We love and thank you, Melody, for being such a wonderful person. Youre in our hearts forever. Melody is survived by her brother, Mark (Karen) Chesnut; nephew, Philip Chesnut; niece, Jennifer (Carly) Chesnut; as well as great nieces and nephews, Marcus Chesnut, Sierra Sevy, Deanie Sevy-Chesnut and Balyee Milford. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 19th at 11am at Heritage Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Anna Ogden Hall or the Humane Society.
