Melvin C. Forsman

March 16, 1963 - April 30, 2017

Melvin C. Forsman Obituary Before we ever knew what hit us, our world had become nothing more than a vapor. Mel was born, raised and built a life in Spokane, WA. He attended North Central High School and after graduation, enlisted in the United States Air Force. Once his service was complete, he returned to Spokane. He began at 16 years old, what would become his legacy, working up until his death, at Allied Fire & Security. It was his passion and pride, and his unexpected departure will be felt for years to come. He is survived by his mom, Diana Harvey and his dad, Pete Forsman; siblings, Patrick Forsman and Angie (Chad) Brayton; nephews, Jake and Shane Forsman, Justin (Taylor) Brayton; and niece, McKenzie (Bryce) Brayton. The Forsmans are a prolific clan, too numerous to name here, but never so much as to forget. They are the best kind of "good" people. In January of 1985, Mel was set up on a blind date, which quickly became permanent. He is survived by me, Steph Forsman, his wife, his partner, his ride or die. We were engaged two months later and married on August 31, 1985. Three years later, in 1988 we welcomed our son, Seth (Stephanie) C. Forsman. On my side of the family, he is survived by "mom", Billie Moe; "brother", Tony Moe; nephew, Brandon Moe; and niece, Kendra Moe. Mel was a "Jack Of All Trades And Master Of All". He could fix anything that was broken and build anything that needed building (Instructions? We don't need no stinkin' instructions). His expertise extended to auto restoration, gardening, lawn maintenance, and Traeger cuisine. He loved to waste a nice Sunday on the golf course and waste those days we did, many times. Mel is loved more than life itself by the entire Forsman/Moe/Allied family and will be sorely missed and never forgotten. I end this with a quote from my favorite movie, the one he would sit through at least three times between Thanksgiving and Christmas every year, just because I loved it and he loved me: "Dear George...remember, no man is a failure who has friends" from It's a Wonderful Life...and indeed it was. A viewing will take place on Wednesday, May 3rd from 12:00 to 5:00 pm and Thursday, May 4th from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. A celebration of Mel's life will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home followed by a graveside service with Military honors at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Melvin, please visit our Tree Store.
