Melvin Ray Miner

April 20, 1925 - June 21, 2017

Melvin Ray Miner Obituary (Age 92) Ray Miner, loving husband, dad and grandpa, went home to be with Jesus on June 21st. He was a member of Heritage Congregational Church, Spokane Central Lions, and the U.S. Navy/Navy Reserves. Ray was born April 20, 1925 in Black, MO to Eva Beatrice and Henry Bryan Miner. He attended Centerville High School, enlisted in the Navy in 1943 where he took his training at Farragut; stationed at Bainbridge, MD; Camp Bradford in Norfolk, VA; Bremerton/Seattle, WA; Shoemaker, CA and full circle back to Farragut where he began. He married the love of his life, Betty Jane Rawe, in 1947 and received his Bachelor of Commercial Science from Kinman Business University in Spokane in 1949. Rays accounting career began as Financial Director at Deaconess Hospital, The Davenport Hotel, and Riverview Terrace where he retired after 18 years in 1990. Ray and wife, Betty, started their family in 1956 when they adopted Patricia Ann, and then in 1959 adopted Curtis Ray. Ray provided for and was lovingly dedicated to his family. He attended, with family, First Baptist Church where we lovingly followed Jesus. Vacations were spent in Kalispell, MT and the Oregon Coast. He cherished the time spent with Betty attending the Spokane Symphony Super Pops and the Coeur dAlene Summer Theater. Ray also enjoyed trips to the Oregon Coast, Montana, Canada and Alaska, bowling, played solitaire, financial endeavors in retirement, and being in his granddaughter, Megans life for 26 years. Ray is survived by daughter, Patricia Ann and husband Jeffrey Michael Tackes; son, Curtis Ray Miner and wife Jennifer Ann Lones; and granddaughters Ashley Lauren and husband Nicholas Gordon Grigsby; and Megan Nicole Tackes; great grandson, Parker Luke Grigsby; sister, Annabelle and husband Dan Auld; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Buddy and Rudy. A Memorial Celebration will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home.
