Merwin Thomas "Tom" Garrett Obituary (Age 89) Tom passed away on November 17, 2016 in Spokane, WA. He was born July 16, 1927 in Denver, CO to Hugh and Gertrude Garrett, the 9th of 12 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings and his oldest daughter, Gail. He is survived by his wife Ruth, his sons Skip and Mark, daughter Cindy, step-son Terry, step-daughter Teresa, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law and a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends. Tom had a good, adventurous and varied life. He was a man of many talents and worked in many capacities in Montana, Washington, Alaska, Vietnam, Greenland and California. He was a friend to all with a ready smile and a twinkle in his eye. He served in the US Merchant Marine during WWII and will be interred in the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 1:30 pm. A gathering in memory of Tom will take place at a later date.
