Michael A. Negretti, M.D.

December 18, 1919 - August 10, 2010

Michael A. Negretti, M.D. Obituary The sun had risen to its full, a little after noon on August 10th, Dr. Michael Negretti's heart stopped and he could not be revived. He passed away quietly at Holy Family Hospital. When Michael's spirit transitioned into Heaven he became reunited with his beloved wife Shirley Claire Negretti who passed away a mere 7 months earlier this year. He also joined his parents, Dan and Angela Negretti. Michael and Shirley had been married for 59 years. They met at Deaconess Hospital where Shirley was an x-ray technician and Michael was finishing his residency. Several years later Michael became President of the Medical Staff at Deaconess and later at Holy Family Hospital. After their marriage, Michael and Shirley lived in Boise where Michael was an Air Force Captain during the Korean war. After his service in the Air Force they returned to Spokane and never left. Michael graduated from San Diego State University and worked for Ryan Aircraft. He then went to Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia. He had little financial help for school so he worked his way through college. Michael was a very caring man. He truly loved his wife and was a wonderful dad and grandfather. His patients were extremely important to him and always in his thoughts. Holy Family Hospital and staff were very, very dear to him. He strove to make this world a better place with any contributions he could possibly make. He was a modest man from a very humble background. He touched many lives during his 50 years as a family doctor. He volunteered to be a high school football team doctor for several years and anonymously donated time and money to many charitable causes. He liked snow skiing, golf, a cabin in the woods and building almost anything he had time for. Michael is survived by a daughter, Nancy Nordstrom and her son Vic Nordstrom, a son Steven Michael Negretti, his wife Rita Louise Negretti and their children, Nicholas Michael Negretti and Christina Louise Negretti. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010, 6:00 PM, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9706 N. Division, Spokane, Washington. A reception will follow services at the Church. Please feel free to sign the online guestbook at www.heritagefunerals.com. Memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org), a charity of your choice or to St. Luke Lutheran Church.
