Michael Houston Rickertsen Obituary Michael Houston Rickertsen, age 55, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. Mike was born to John J. and Reta J. (Turosky) Rickertsen on February 13, 1961 at Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane, WA. Michael is survived by his children, Meghan & Braedan (Kitsap Peninsula); his sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl & Richard Reeves (Long Beach, WA); nephews: Jesse Duprey (Spokane), Trevor Duprey (Iwakuni, Japan), & Bradley Duprey (Camp Pendleton, CA). He grew up in NW Spokane and attended Finch Elementary, Glover Jr. High, and graduated with honors at Shadle Park High School. Upon graduation, Michael joined the US Marine Corps as a reservist 0621 Field Radio Operator and attained the rank of Sergeant; and during that same time period, he attended Eastern Washington University and graduated with a BA degree in Marketing and Sales. Michaels career took him many places around the US; Florida, California, Idaho, Oregon and then finally returning to Washington. He resided in Tum Tum, WA where he had spent many childhood summers and weekends at his grandparents home. He treasured his surroundings and welcomed everyone he knew to come and enjoy the lake and peacefulness with him. Tum Tum was where Mike was when God called him away from us. Mike enjoyed life in many different ways. He loved listening to the commentators and talking politics with anyone and everyone. He was an avid reader and had knowledge on just about any subject you put in front of him history being one of his favorite topics. Mike loved roaming Rail Canyon to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the forest his grandfather once walked sharing every story thinkable to everyone but mostly to make sure his nephews knew the history. Mike loved being around others; he was a very good friend to many most would say hed do anything for each of them; hed never tell ya no. Mike had a sense of humor like no other and the knack to make a friend anywhere! And last, but not least loved his Hawks a fan since their beginning! Mike is and will always be greatly missed by many.
