Mickey (Marilyn MacCormac) Ulijohn

February 17, 1935 - July 27, 2012

Mickey (Marilyn MacCormac) Ulijohn Obituary Mickey was born in Spokane on February 17, 1935 and passed away peacefully on July 27, 2012 to become the newest Star in Heaven's sewing and craft paradise. Mickey attended West Seattle High School and then moved back to Spokane to marry and start her family. In the mid '60s, Mickey moved to Ghana, West Africa with her husband and daughters where she enjoyed meeting new friends and learning the local culture. She was a gifted and talented seamstress who used her talents to create beautiful gifts and clothes. She devoted hours to sewing beautiful dresses for her daughters and granddaughters, shirts for her grandsons, play costumes, Bloomsday family tee-shirts and home decorations. For over 25 years Mickey, who was known as "Mickey the Bag Lady", created and sold unique gift items at local arts and craft shows with her specialty being her "jean purses". Mickey's greatest love was her family. Mickey was (and always will be) the beloved mother and grandmother to her four daughters, three sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law and nine grandchildren: Tracey and Chuck Knight, along with their daughters Kim, Kelley and Heather; Karen Davis and Marlyse Heaps, along with Karen's children Jeff Jr. and Kelsey; Jan Ulijohn and Ken Stanford, along with Jan's sons Michael Day and Chris Erickson; Debbie and Steve Vasquez, along with their children Chrissy and Steve Jr. Mickey also leaves to cherish her memory her brother Mac MacCormac and his wife Bonnie; two cousins; and her best friend of over 70 years, Pepper. The family would like to give their gratitude to the professional staff and physical therapist personnel of ManorCare Health Services on Assembly Road for their tender and compassionate care of Mickey these past months. Mickey will ALWAYS be remembered for her strength, undying love and devotion to her family. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 31st at 4:00 pm at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Mickey Ulijohn's name to DayBreak Youth Services, 960 E. 3rd Ave., Spokane, WA 99202.
