Monty D. Gross passed away at the age of 54, peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Monty was born on December 6, 1970, to his parents Donald and Sandra Gross. He is survived by both of his parents and his sisters, Tamara Gross, Dawn Marie Lawley, and Jennifer Wells.

Early in his life Monty was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, a rare and unique genetic condition, but right away he started surprising people with his fight for life. He would never be able to speak words to others, but he certainly knew how to communicate with everyone. All who knew him can attest to the staggering and positive impact he made on those fortunate enough to be around him.

Monty had blonde hair and blue eyes that were kind and loving, but the most noticeable thing about Monty was his smile, it was almost constant and gave the impression that everything was better than it seemed. He could laugh and giggle at all of life’s ups and downs and no matter the struggle he had with the day he was always in a state of joy. Every day was Monty’s favorite day, whether he was sitting at home watching television with his parents, or when he was out in public watching people on the street or trying new food with his dad as they went for a drive. He loved people, the activity of a crowded street would make him shout in glee and for anyone that was close enough to really get his attention he would look at them as if they were the most important person in the world. Monty would happily hug everyone that came near him, whether they liked it or not, and being caught in that surprise embrace let everyone know that he cared and he was happy they were there.

His family and friends will always feel the profound hole left in their worlds from his passing, but will be able to hold onto the memories of his laugh, squeals, flapping happy arms, headlock hugs, all his hilarious facial expressions. He will forever be missed but we know he is in Heaven watching over all of us.
