Nancy Johnson Lindsay Obituary (Age 77) Nancy passed away peacefully on December 7, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. A longtime resident of Spokane, she was born in Shelby Montana on March 6, 1932 and moved to Spokane in 1944. Nancy will be remembered by her numerous friends and family as generous and loving, with a heart as large as the Montana sky. Her boundless sense of humor and ability to make people laugh made her a perennial "life of the party." Nancy graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and Stanford University, where she studied performing arts. She married Stanford classmate David Clark Lindsay, who later died in 1982. She is preceded in death by her father James W. Johnson and her mother Marjorie Kavanagh Johnson. She is survived by her brother James K. Johnson and his wife Bonnie, daughter Marjorie Titus and her husband Robert, son Robert Lindsay and his wife Meg, and daughter Mary Katherine (Kate) Lindsay. A tireless community volunteer and supporter of the arts, Nancy participated in numerous community organizations and served on many boards including: Friends of Seven, Friends of the Library, Spokane Opera, Spokane Civic Theatre, and Spokane Junior League. She was also a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and Martha Guild, Rockwood Garden Club, and Spokane Racquet Club. One of Nancy's greatest joys was her cabin on Lake McDonald in Glacier Park. There she spent countless summers with her family and friends; hiking in the mountains, strumming her ukulele and leading the songs by the beach fire, and playing mahjong. She will be sadly missed by many. A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, December 12 at 11:30 AM at Plymouth Congregational Church, 1502 W. 8th, Spokane Washington, 99204 with a reception to follow at the Spokane Club.
