Neill Daniel Zuber, Jr. Obituary Neill Daniel Zuber, Jr. was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1928 to Neill and Alice Zuber. He was the eldest son of four children. The family moved to Ordway, Colorado when Dan was a high school freshman. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.S. in business in 1951 and received his MBA from Denver University in 1956. He served as an officer in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He began his professional life as an executive trainee with Frederick and Nelson Department Stores. The majority of his work life was spent with the Frederick and Nelson Organization. His progression included buying, merchandise management and management of suburban stores in Everett and Bellevue. His career also included ownership of Davis Stationery, a book store in Marysville, WA, executive director of Keep Washington Green Association, director of stores and operations of Lipman Specialty Stores in Washington and Oregon, manager of North Seattle Community College Book Store and developer and manager of Greenbank Farms Cheese Store in Preston, WA. He was an active participant in life. He gave countless hours to his community and served as President of the Overlake Hospital Medical Center, Bellevue, WA. Board of trustees; President of the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association; President of the Pacific Northwest Arts & Crafts Association; President of the Bellevue Square Merchants Association as well as a member of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce board of directors, Bellevue Downtown Development Board, Bellevue Advisory Council for Bellevue Community College and Lake Washington Technical College. He was a member of the Young Life Adult Committee, a member of St. Margaret�s vestry and choir and scout master for St. Margaret�s Boy Scout troop. Dan had many loves. He loved singing-country to classic and everything in between. He spent many happy hours singing with both informal groups and church choirs. He loved the outdoors. His leisure time joy was backpacking and fishing. He loved reading. He carried a book with him wherever he went. He loved cooking. He worked diligently to perfect his bread baking and created amazing breakfasts. He loved a good joke and told them with perfect timing. He loved people. Dan�s life was filled with giving himself to others and loving his family, friends, community and church. His voice will be missed. He died peacefully in his Spokane home on November 21, 2015. His is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gail; six children/stepchildren, Dana Zuber, Linda Susan Montgomery, Linda Ann (Ted) Pietrzak, Stephen Ward, Karen (Kirk) Anders, Allison Zuber; six grandchildren, Jeremy Abel, Elora Montgomery, James Anders, Ian Anders, Elizabeth Anders, Alexa Pietrzak; one great-granchild Paxton Abel and one on the way, Madison Abel; his brother James (Janet) Zuber and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held at St. Margaret�s Episcopal Church, 4228 Factoria Blvd SE, Bellevue, WA 98006. Memorial tributes may be sent to Hospice of Spokane, P O Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99201, St. Margaret�s Church Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice.
