Noreen Mary Evans Obituary She was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho on March 13, 1926 and passed away on January 5, 2017 in Des Moines, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Mary Payne, brothers, Leroy and Cletis Payne, her husband, Junior Franklin Evans and son, Leroy Evans. Noreen spent her growing up summers living in logging camps run by her father. Her mother cooked for the crew. During the school year they lived in Spokane where Noreen made her home until after she retired. Frank and Noreen, married August 5, 1943, and built their own home in Spokane Valley where they raised their surviving 7 children. There Noreen kept busy with sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening and canning for her large family. In 1970, she went to work for Spokane Valley United Methodist Church and spent 25 plus years working with youth, children and Christian education. Noreen also sat on numerous Boards and Committees for the UMC and Twinlow Camp. In 1973, with her youth group, Noreen began Meals on Wheels for Spokane Valley. Over the years she initiated and promoted several programs for youth and children through her ministry outreach. Noreen was recognized by the Bishop of the United Methodist Church of the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference for her diligence, work and leadership. Noreen is survived by her seven children and spouses, Anita D. Russell, Steve P. (Paula) Evans, Richard C. (Nona) Evans, Claudia K. Moore (Rev. Ben), Ben A. (Sabrina) Evans, Starell M.(Matt) Grossaint and Mark E. (Danielle) Evans and 19 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 14, 1 pm at Heritage Funeral Chapel. Reception will follow at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church at 4 pm.
