Norma Jean Swedlund Obituary (Age 92) Our beloved mother passed away peacefully on February 28, 2014. Norma was born March 10, 1921 to Fred and Rosena Lane, and lived in Spokane, WA her entire life. She graduated from Rogers High School and attended Kinman Business University. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church for 75 years. Norma married E. Lee Swedlund in July 1943 and they had three children: Gary, Cheryl, and Susan. The family enjoyed many great vacations together. Norma loved boating, gardening and relaxing on her patio on a nice, sunny day. She also loved to bake, and her huckleberry pie was the best. Norma and Lee both loved music and were active during their retirement years with the Memory Lane Band and the Hillyard Belles. Norma always enjoyed meeting her good friend Dolly Frasher for lunch at the Hillyard Center and seeing old Hillyard Belle friends. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Roy and Claude Lane; and her husband Lee in 2003. She is survived by her son Gary Swedlund; Daughters: Cheryl (Ted) Rogers of Kent, WA, and Susan (Steve) Collison of Spokane Valley, WA; sister-in-law Alta Lane; 10 nieces and nephews; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Norma lived at home until 2012 and then moved to the Broadway Court Estates, where she lived with her son and met many new friends. Norma had a wonderful life. She was loved very much and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank her caregiver, Leah Colburn and the Sullivan Park staff including Alysha, Billy, and Marilou; who were compassionate and comforted Norma during her final days. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Bethany Presbyterian; 2607 S. Ray Street, Spokane, WA 99223, followed by refreshments. A private family inurnment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
