Norma Madeline Adamson Obituary
Norma Madeline Railsback Adamson passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Sullivan Park Care Center in Spokane Valley, WA from a long heart related illness. She was born July 6, 1919 to Adin and Maude (Goodenough) Railsback on a farm near Medical Lake, WA. The family later moved to a ranch on Michigan Prairie near Lind, WA where she attended Lind High School. During her sophomore year she met and started dating Ray. She attended WSU in Pullman and Kinman Business University in Spokane. Norma and Ray were married June 29, 1941 in Coeur d?Alene, ID, spending 67 years, 10 months together. They lived in Spokane, Davenport, Deer Park, Cheney and Liberty Lake. While in Deer Park, Norma and Ray owned and operated the Western Auto Hardware Store for 19 years. Going to Sunrise Point Resort at Deer Lake where they parked their trailer for about 10 years, she enjoyed getting together with family and friends. In Cheney Norma and Ray owned the Cheney Variety Store for two years. Norma ran and operated the store with the help of her daughter Joyce, while Ray worked for Jensen-Byrd Co. of Spokane. One of Norma?s favorite flowers was the rose, therefore spent many hours in her large rose garden in Cheney. Norma and Ray belonged to a dance club while in Cheney and after Ray retired in 1981 they enjoyed spending the winters in Hemet, CA for about 20 years, meeting and enjoying many special friends. She also enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, traveling, playing cards (especially 3-13) and entertaining friends at the home. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by her parents and brother Leighton. She leaves behind many loved ones: husband Ray of Liberty Lake; son Clark and wife Judy of Lewiston, ID; daughter Joyce Beitey and companion Bill Keller of Spokane; sister Genevieve Gehres of Seattle, WA; granddaughter Jacquie Pettet and husband Vern, children MaKayla and Kameron Pettet of Colbert, WA; grandson Jeff Beitey and wife Dana, children Felicia and Matthew Beitey of Wichita, KS; Norma?s step-granddaughter Rachel Stocking and husband Steve, children Dannielle and Cooper of Lewiston, ID; nieces Barbara Sanders and husband Craig, and Norma Lou Patterson and husband John; nephews Frank Adamson and wife Jo, Rob Adamson and wife Jan, Robert Gehres and wife Billie, Scott Adamson and wife Sheila, and Kim Adamson, plus several great-nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at Heritage Funeral Chapel with interment in Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
